TVNZ has announced a leaders’ debate between Christopher Luxon and Chris Hipkins for 6 October.
They also invited both leaders to a second debate on 5 November — just two days before the election.
Luxon declined the second invitation.
Now, this isn’t really about whether I like Luxon, Hipkins, or anybody else.
If you’re asking New Zealanders to trust you with running the country, I reckon fronting up, facing scrutiny and answering the awkward questions is part of the job.
So Granny asks: Why wouldn’t you front up?
